What? - Objectives and Topics
The 6th Capacity-building Hub Synergies Day aims to achieve the following outcomes:
-
Raise awareness of key entry points to enhance synergies among the Rio Conventions and across broader multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs).
-
Promote the synergistic approaches to achieve the Rio Conventions’ objectives by aligning national plans (NDCs, NAPs, NBSAPs, and LDN target setting) and fostering co-benefits through integrated implementation and financing.
-
Strengthen youth empowerment by integrating their perspectives and leadership in climate, biodiversity, and land restoration agendas.
-
Build capacities to develop gender-responsive solutions that enhance synergies across climate, biodiversity, and land, promoting justice and inclusion.
-
Share innovative tools, best practices, and lessons learned to support collaborative action and build holistic approaches to address global challenges.
Why? - Significance
Building synergies across the climate, biodiversity, and land nexus is essential for addressing interconnected global challenges effectively. There are wide capacity gaps to carry out the required integrated approaches, such as aligning the objectives of the Rio Conventions and other MEAs national strategies and action plans, maximizing co-benefits and minimizing trade-offs in practices, and advancing just and gender-responsive transition. Building capacities of key stakeholders – especially youth and gender advocates – is indispensable to foster more coherent policy implementation, improve resource efficiency, and enhance transparency, leading to inclusive and just development pathways. By empowering diverse actors and promoting cross-sector collaboration, capacity-building efforts can unlock innovative solutions that escalate synergistic impacts and drive sustainable transformation at national and global levels.
