CMP 20 Agenda as adopted

The status of nominations can be found on the Election and Membership webpage of UNFCCC. 

Groups and constituencies are encouraged to transmit their outstanding nominations to the secretariat by 28 February 2026 at the latest.

The organization of work was agreed as proposed and work was launched on the basis of the adopted agenda.

The COP accepted the report on credentials presented by the Bureau, as well as the credentials from 7 Parties who submitted credentials after the report on credentials as approved by the Bureau.

The CMP took note of the report on SBSTA 62, the draft report on SBSTA 63 and the oral report of the Chair.

Under this agenda item, the CMP also adopted the decision entitled "Guidance relating to registry systems under Article 7, paragraph 4, of the Kyoto Protocol" as presented.

The CMP took note that, as of the time of the session, the secretariat had not received any eighth national communications from Parties included in Annex I, beyond those already covered in the note by the secretariat on the status of submission and review of national communications and biennial reports, which was considered at SBI 61.

The CMP requested SBI 64 (June 2026) to continue consideration of matters relating to the membership of the Adaptation Fund Board, the matter of the arrangements for the Adaptation Fund to exclusively serve the Paris Agreement and the initiation of the fifth review of the Adaptation Fund on the basis of the work undertaken at SBI 63 available on the UNFCCC website.

The CMP noted that this work does not represent agreement among Parties, does not prejudge further work or prevent Parties from expressing their views in the future, nor does it prejudge the number of draft decisions on these matters that Parties may wish to recommend or consider.

The CMP took note of the 20th report of the  Compliance Committee contained in document CMP/2025/4 and of the decisions taken by the Committee during the reporting period.

CMP took note of the final compilation and accounting report for Liechtenstein for the second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol, contained in document CMP/2024/CAR/LIE/Rev.1

The CMP deferred consideration of this matter to CMP 21.
