TEC Engagement in Invited Meetings & Events

Beyond the scope of its regular meetings and events, members of the TEC actively participate in additional meetings, workshops, dialogues and events of relevant bodies, initiatives and processes per invitation. Starting in 2023 this page has been put in place to collect and disseminate information on this subject.

The TEC chair attended the AI for Good Global Summit 2025 held from 8 to 11 July in Geneva, to launch the Committee’s new technical paper on Artificial Intelligence for Climate Action, developed in collaboration with UNIDO and with support from the Korea International Cooperation Agency, and contributed to a panel discussion on navigating the intersect of AI, environment and energy for a sustainable future.

The TEC chair attended the in session workshop on systemic and holistic approaches to implementation of climate action on agriculture, food systems and food security, understanding, cooperation and integration into plans, held on 17 June in Bonn, to present FAO-TEC ongoing collaborative work on agrifood systems and climate technology, particularly highlighting the key messages and recommendations from the knowledge product: Climate Technologies for Agrifood System Transformation: Placing food security, climate change and poverty reduction at the forefront.

The TEC attended the 2025 edition of the IRENA Innovation Week, held from 10-13 June in Bonn, to present the new Technology Needs Assessment Guidebook on Renewable Energy, developed by the TEC in partnership with UNIDO and UNEP-CCC, and contributed a panel discussion on modernising power grids for a renewable future in emerging markets and developing economies.

TEC Vice Chair participated at Eighth Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GP2025), held on 2-6 June 2025, and presented the work of the TEC on the Early Warning Systems at thematic session 4 “Harnessing Innovation: Advancing Multi-Hazard Early Warning Systems through Science, Technology and Local Knowledge”.

Members of the Technology Executive Committee (TEC) participated at the Implementation Forum of the Climate Week 2025 held on 21 May 2025. Members engaged in The Technology Lab that addressed key topics to support NDC implementation, and contributed to the discussions on the role of emerging technologies like Water-Energy-Food/Agrifood systems, Industrial decarbonization, energy systems, AI for climate action.

Members of the Technology Executive Committee (TEC) participated at the 2025 Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) NDE Forum and the Capacity Building Program on Climate Technology and Finance, held on 19-22 May 2025. TEC members introduced the Technology Mechanism, as well as work of the TEC to the NDEs from Latin America and the Caribbean.

The TEC contributed to a session on "Forward-Thinking: Co-Creating the Role of UNFCCC Mechanisms for Climate Action in the Pacific" during the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Regional Dialogue with the Pacific and Asian SIDS, held from 6–9 May 2025 in the Cook Islands.

The TEC chair shared insights on integrating industrial targets into Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) during a webinar series titled "Fast-Tracking Decarbonisation in Heavy Industry Through NDC Enhancement", focused on Africa and Asia, held virtually on 6 May 2025 and 8 May 2025, respectively.

The TEC chair shared insights on integrating industrial targets into Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) during a webinar series titled Fast-Tracking Decarbonisation in Heavy Industry Through NDC Enhancement-MENA, held virtually on 30th April 2025.

The TEC contributed to a session focused on strengthening linkages between the UNFCCC Technology Mechanism and the Financial Mechanism at the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Regional Dialogue with the Caribbean, held on 17 - 20 March 2025, Saint Kitts and Nevis.

The TEC (represented by the secretariat) shared insights from its analysis of success stories from implemented technology actions plans during the 2025 global TNA workshop. The workshop was convened under the GEF-funded Global TNA Project, implemented by UNEP-CCC, and attended by 34 countries participating in the fourth and fifth phase of the project.
