Beyond the scope of its regular meetings and events, members of the TEC actively participate in additional meetings, workshops, dialogues and events of relevant bodies, initiatives and processes per invitation. Starting in 2023 this page has been put in place to collect and disseminate information on this subject.
June | Bonn Climate Change Conference
The TEC participated in the ocean and climate change dialogue 2024 and shared insights from the ongoing and past work under the Technology Mechanism, with a focus on ocean-related technologies and their potential for mitigation, in the panel discussion on “technology for the ocean – climate action, including finance links”, and moderated discussions at the breakout groups on the same topic.
The TEC participated and presented an overview on the its work in the in-session workshop Art. 6.8 – GCNMA 5 which focused on financial, technology and capacity-building support available or provided for identifying and developing non-market approaches.

The TEC chair participated at the Future Cleantech Festival 2024 organized by the Future Cleantech Architects on 27-29 May. The festival focused on structural innovation in various thematic chapters, including Transport (aviation and shipping), Construction, Innovation, and the Future Energy System. The TEC chair presented the work of the TEC and engaged in discussions on disruptive innovation.
The TEC Chair participated at the Third global dialogue and investment-focused event under the Sharm el-Sheikh mitigation ambition and implementation work programme, which took place on 27-29 May 2024. The TEC chair presented the work of the TEC on buildings and infrastructure and called for collaboration.

The TEC Chair opened and participated in a GCF webinar on the Catalyst Initiative. The Initiative is a global programme promoting climate tech innovations scaling in emerging markets and developing economies, focusing initially on Latin America and West Africa, to catalyze investments in high-impact climate start-ups and young businesses.
Members of the TEC participated in:
• A session entitled 'Adaptation Fund: Making lasting impacts in vulnerable countries while reducing disaster risks', convened by the Adaptation Fund, to share insights from the collaboration of the TEC and Group on Earth Observations (GEO) on promoting ‘innovation for risk knowledge and information’ under the Early Warnings for All initiative;
• A panel discussion on 'Future RD&D: Perspectives on Key Global Technology Development Needs', convened by the Future Cleantech Architects (FCA), to discuss the role of the TEC in global RD&D process and key takeaways of the results of a survey conducted by the FCA in collaboration with the TEC on the topic (represented by the secretariat);
• A meeting of the Research and Independent Non-Governmental Organizations (RINGO) constituency to share insights from the ongoing work of the TEC under its 2023-2027 rolling workplan, in particular the work on adaptation technologies and early warning systems (represented by the secretariat);
• A discussion on 'Innovative technologies in mitigation and land restoration: Finding solutions for accelerated uptake', co-convened by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and partners, that also marked the launch of a new edition of WIPO's Green Technology Book on climate mitigation;
• A discussion focused on the role of space technologies and innovation in improving disaster risk management and climate resilience, in the context of the TEC and GEO collaboration under the Early Warnings for All initiative, co-organized by the Group on Earth Observation (GEO) in collaboration with the Japan Space Agency;
• The annual meeting between the GCF and UNFCCC constituted bodies to share views on how the TEC can inform the implementation of the GCF Strategic Plan for 2024–2027, including through its rolling workplan;
• A discussion on bridging gender gaps in NDC implementation, convened by the Women Engage for a Common Future, to present the new flagship publication of the Technology Mechanism on Technology and NDCs, and discuss efforts on mainstreaming gender consideration in the work of the TEC;
• The sixth meeting of the informal coordination group for capacity-building under the Convention and the Paris Agreement (ICG), convened by the Paris Committee on Capacity-building (PCCB), to exchange relevant information and updates with other members of the group, including an overview of capacity-building related activities of the TEC since the previous ICG meeting.
The TEC actively participated in the Asia and the Pacific National Designated Entity (NDE) Forum 2023, convened by the CTCN to share highlights from its ongoing and planned work for 2023-2024, on pertinent issues under the overarching theme of the forum: 'System Transformation through Climate Technology Transfer'.
The TEC participated in a green hydrogen capacity-building programme, delivered by the CTCN in collaboration with the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean and the Sustainability and Climate Change Agency of Chile that was attended by 30 representatives from the Latin America and the Caribbean region.
The TEC presented its collaborative work with the Group on Earth Observation (GEO) under the umbrella of the 'Early Warnings for All' initiative at the GEO Week 2023, held on 6 – 10 November in Cape Town, South Africa and engaged with various stakeholders in the GEO community to inform the development of an associated knowledge product.
The TEC participated in the International Vienna Energy and Climate Forum (IVECF), held from 2 - 3 November in Vienna, and presented the TEC rolling work plan 2023-2027 and its work on mapping existing initiatives for transformative industry.
The TEC participated in the Latin America and the Caribbean National Designated Entity (NDE) Forum, convened by the CTCN to share highlights from its ongoing and planned work for 2023-2024, under the overarching theme of the forum: 'System Transformation through Climate Technology Transfer'.
The TEC presented its work on Technology and Capacity Challenges to Just Energy Transition in the Transport Sector at the Second global dialogue and second investment-focused event under the Sharm el-Sheikh mitigation ambition and implementation work programme held on 15 – 16 October 2023 in Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM).
The TEC participated at the twenty-fourth meeting of the Adaptation Committee (AC24), held from 10 – 13 October in Bonn, and shared relevant insights on its ongoing and planned work and highlighted possible areas of collaboration between the two bodies.
The TEC attended the 2023 edition of the IRENA Innovation Week, held from 25-28 September in Bonn, and joined a panel discussion on grid evolution and transforming energy landscapes in developing countries and SIDS to share relevant insights from its work.
The TEC actively participated in the Africa National Designated Entity (NDE) Forum, convened by the CTCN to share highlights from its ongoing and planned work for 2023-2024, and engage with the African NDEs on pertinent issues under the overarching theme of the forum: 'System Transformation through Climate Technology Transfer'.
The TEC delivered a statement during the Cleantech Innovation Festival convened by the Future Cleantech Architects (FCA), to share highlights from its work on the topic of innovation and promote the launch of a global survey on future needs of climate technology research, development and demonstration conducted by the FCA in collaboration with the TEC.
Members of the TEC participated in:
• The fifth meeting of the informal coordination group for capacity-building under the Convention and the Paris Agreement (ICG), convened by the Paris Committee on Capacity-building (PCCB), to exchange relevant information and updates with other members of the group, including an overview of capacity-building related activities of the TEC since the previous ICG meeting and in the lead up to COP 28.
• The Ocean and Climate Change Dialogue and shared insights from work under the Technology Mechanism on coastal ecosystem restoration including blue carbon, and moderated discussions at the breakout groups on the same topic;
• The dialogue among constituted bodies on progress in integrating a gender perspective into their processes (as per activity C2 of the Gender Action Plan);
• The first global dialogue and investment-focused event under the Sharm el-Sheikh mitigation ambition and implementation work programme, sharing insights from its work on Technology and capacity challenges and facilitating discussions on energy efficiency at the workshop;
• A meeting convened by the Chair of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice to enhance collaboration between the Glasgow Committee on Non-market Approaches and constituted bodies and institutional arrangements under or serving the Paris Agreement and/or the Convention;
• The fifth meeting of the informal coordination group for capacity-building under the Convention and the Paris Agreement (ICG), convened by the Paris Committee on Capacity-building (PCCB), and shared capacity-building related highlights from the ongoing and planned work fo the TEC.
The TEC (represented by the secretariat) participated in the first workshop on addressing loss and damage in the context of decisions 2/CP.27 and 2/CMA.4 , convened by the Transitional Committee, sharing insights on the role of climate technology (hardware, software, and orgware) in averting, minimizing and addressing loss and damage, and the urgent need for ramping up support for the development and transfer of such technologies.
The TEC participated in the plenary session as a panellist to share insights on integrated innovative technologies and supporting financing mechanisms to prevent, adapt and manage climate change impacts.
