Earth Information Day (EID) provides a platform for dialogue, enabling the exchange of information on the state of the global climate system and advancements in systematic observation (FCCC/SBSTA/2019/2 para. 58). 

EID 2024 featured an opening segment, a plenary session providing relevant updates related to Earth observation and five thematic breakout discussions. The topics for the breakout discussions include (a) observations for climate change mitigation, (b) observations for climate change adaptation, (c) observations for averting, minimizing, addressing loss and damage, and strengthening resilience to extreme events including heat stress, (d) advancing innovation, technology and digital transformation, and (e) enhancing observation in critical ecosystems and vulnerable regions.
