Methodological Expert Panel

The Methodological Expert Panel (MEP) supports the development of methodological standards and guidelines, and clarifies related requirements to facilitate the development of emission reduction and removal activities for registration under the Article 6.4 mechanism, also known as the Paris Agreement Crediting Mechanism.


The MEP has specific functions to support the work of the Supervisory Body and:

  • Considers draft recommendations regarding the development, revision or withdrawal of methodologies, methodological tools, methodological standards, guidelines, and clarifications;
     
  • Considers draft recommendations for other methodological requirements for Article 6.4 projects and programmes of activities;
     
  • Provides advice and recommendations to the Supervisory Body regarding the need and priority areas for methodological guidance.

The Supervisory Body agreed that the terms of service for MEP members will be until 31 March 2026.
