The purpose of the virtual workshop series is to further the objectives and activities under the enhanced gender action plan as part of the 5-year enhanced Lima work programme on gender (Decision 3/CP.25), that aim to advance knowledge and understanding of gender-responsive climate action and its coherent mainstreaming in the implementation of the UNFCCC and the work of Parties, the secretariat, United Nations entities and all stakeholders at all levels, as well as women’s full, equal and meaningful participation in the UNFCCC process.
The three virtual workshops touch on key issues identified by Parties and will help to advance the work ahead of COP 26:
22 July: Gender Action Plan (GAP) Implementation
26 August: Gender Analysis
16 September: Gender Budgeting.
The #ActOnTheGAP workshop series was rounded out with an additional virtual workshop to provide an Update on Gender@COP 26.

The objective of this workshop is to inform Parties, United Nations entities and relevant stakeholders on progress on implementation of the gender action plan in 2021, next steps and opportunities for continuing engagement, and to provide an opportunity for discussion and exchange of good practices.

The objective of this workshop is to enhance awareness and capacity of governments and other relevant stakeholders to develop and apply gender analyses as key tools of gender-responsive climate decision-making, programming and action at multiple levels. As included in the UNFCCC Gender Action Plan (Decision 3/CP.25, Activity A.3), gender analysis includes collecting and analysing sex-disaggregated and other gender data and information across key climate sectors. The workshop will include a general introduction and background to gender analysis, information on tools, guidelines and training and provide an opportunity for discussion and exchange of good practices on gender analysis in the context of climate change, including from diverse Party perspectives and experiences.

The #ActOnTheGAP virtual workshop series, included workshops on the implementation of the Gender Action Plan, Gender Analysis and Gender Budgeting, and is going to be rounded out in 2021 with an additional virtual workshop to provide an Update on Gender@COP 26.
Participants will hear about progress on implementation of the gender action plan with a focus on the gender composition report and synthesis report on progress in integrating a gender perspective into constituted body processes as well as other issues, which are going to be considered at COP26. An update will be provided on planned events and ways to participate at COP26 and Parties and other stakeholders will have an opportunity to discuss and share views.
The event will include simultaneous interpretation into Spanish and French and participants will have the option of joining Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish discussion groups.
