Mandate and Background

The Conference of the Parties at its twenty-seventh session, held in Sharm El Sheikh in 2022, adopted decision 3/CP.27 on the "Sharm el-Sheikh joint work on implementation of climate action on agriculture and food security".

At their 60th sessions, the Subsidiary Bodies set out a road map of work under the Sharm el-Sheikh joint work on implementation of climate action on agriculture and food security, as contained in annex II of FCCC/SBI/2024/13 and FCCC/SBSTA/2024/7, including two in-session workshops in hybrid format, facilitating both virtual and in-person participation, to be held at SB62 (June 2025) and SB64 (June 2026).

The topic of the first of these workshops, scheduled during the June Climate Meetings (SB62)  on the following topic: “Systemic and holistic approaches to implementation of climate action on agriculture, food systems (this does not preclude other approaches) and food security, understanding, cooperation and integration into plans”.

The SBSTA and the SBI invited Parties and observers to submit views on the subject of the workshop, options for its format and suggested speaker. Submissions received are available on the UNFCCC submission portal (in the search field, type "agriculture, food").
