2023 ACE Gallery

The UN Climate Change secretariat organized the ACE Gallery - the first-ever poster session on ACE and youth at SB 58 (5-15 June 2023) in Bonn, Germany.

Through the call for interest, more than 35 posters have been selected and presented over two Gallery sessions on 9 and 12 June 2023, 13:00 - 15:00 (CEST) in the WCCB Foyer. The call for interest was open to all Parties and non-Party stakeholders and the selection process aimed to accommodate broad representation of ACE implementation by Parties, UN organizations, international, non-governmental, civil society and youth organizations and others.

Objective

Recognizing the importance of bringing together different expertise, resources and knowledge to accelerate ACE implementation through cooperation, collaboration and partnerships, the ACE Gallery aimed to achieve the following objectives:

  • Showcase activities that enhance implementation of the Glasgow work programme and its action plan at different levels by diverse stakeholders, including youth;
  • Connect and encourage peer-to-peer exchange and networking within the ACE community;
  • Foster opportunities for further engagement and collaboration among initiatives and programmes that extend beyond the ACE Dialogue.

The ACE Gallery is supported by the ACE Hub, which is a three-year collaboration between the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Action and Energy of the German State of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) and UN Climate Change aimed at increasing public support for and engagement in climate action that can help accelerate the implementation of ACE and the Paris Agreement across all sectors of society.

How to submit

Use the following form. Also, download the licensing agreement here and attach the signed agreement to the form. Only a separate link to the poster should be contained in the form, thus limiting the size of the submitted input. The full-sized poster can be shared via Dropbox, OneDrive, WeTransfer, etc.

Submission deadline

Four weeks before the start of the session. 8 May 2023, 11:59 (CEST).

Submission format

A1, a minimum of 4961 pixels x 7016 pixels (print resolution) and 1191 pixels x 1648 pixels (screen resolution), with either vertical or horizontal orientation. The posters should be made in English and the presenters should be able to communicate with participants in English. Multilingual versions of the poster can be disseminated via a link/QR code.

How will the posters suggestions be evaluated

Due to the limitation in space, not all applications will be selected. The secretariat will conduct an evaluation based on the below-listed evaluation criteria:

  • Adheres to the formats – i.e. size of poster, language (samples of posters available here and here);
  • Is directly related to one or more ACE elements – climate education and public awareness, training, public participation and access to information, and international cooperation in these areas, and/or youth engagement in climate action;
  • The contents of the posters showcase the relevant work on the ground at all levels. The posters and the in-person interaction should foster engagement and collaboration that goes beyond the poster session. In this sense, applications made by organizations will be prioritized;
  • Joint application by two or more organizations (e.g., a joint poster by a Party and a UN organization, or by a civil society organizations and a youth organization) are highly encouraged;
  • Gets the messages across to a broad audience;
  • Reflects gender-responsiveness and intergenerational equity;
  • In-person presenters would have already been accepted to attend the session in the Online Registration System for SB 58;
  • Presenters are responsible for their funding;
  • Should not be politically defamatory.

Important Note: The selected presenters are fully responsible for preparing and bringing high-quality printed posters to the session. Specific drop-off time and locations will be notified to the selected presenters prior to the session. Pinboards will be provided by the secretariat.
