The venue is easily accessible for visitors with mobility difficulties and accessibility needs. All meeting rooms will be accessible.

Participants are responsible for making their own accommodation arrangements and are free to book accommodation of their own choice.

The Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan has secured special corporate rates with designated hotels for participants attending UNFCCC Climate Week 4 in Baku.

As a courtesy to facilitate participants' stay, the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan has also secured the same special corporate rates for participants attending the 30th Meeting of the Adaptation Committee (AC30).

Please note that the special corporate rates are available exclusively to registered participants of the respective events. Registration for the relevant event is therefore required to benefit from these corporate rates.

The applicable accommodation periods are as follows:

• UNFCCC Climate Week 4: Check-in: 5 September | Check-out: 12 September
• 30th Meeting of the Adaptation Committee (AC30): Check-in: 12 September | Check-out: 18 September

Please note that the corporate rates are valid only for reservations covering the above accommodation periods.

In addition, commercial catering options will be available inside the Baku Convention Center during the Climate Week period.   

Food and beverages are not permitted inside any of the meeting rooms.

Climate and Weather

In September, Baku offers mild and sunny weather, with average daytime temperatures ranging from 25°C to 28°C (77°F -82°F) and nighttime temperatures between 18°C–20°C (64°F–68°F).

Currency

The official currency of Azerbaijan is the Azerbaijani Manat (AZN). Foreign currency can be exchanged at authorized banks during standard banking hours (typically 09:00-17:00 hrs, Monday to Friday) and licensed foreign exchange points.

Credit and Debit Cards

Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in Baku. Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) are also readily available for cash withdrawals. It is advisable to carry some cash for use in small shops, traditional markets, and certain local transportation services.

Electricity

The standard electricity supply in Azerbaijan is 220 volts at 60Hz. Visitors from countries using 110–120 volts (e.g. the United States) will require a plug adapter and may also need a voltage converter depending on their devices.

Telephone and Connectivity

The international dialing code for the Azerbaijan is +994. Baku has extensive mobile network coverage.

The United Nations and the UNFCCC secretariat disclaim all responsibility for medical, accident and travel insurance, for compensation for death or disability, for loss of or damage to personal property and for any other costs or losses that may be incurred during travel or the period of participation at the conference including pre-sessional meetings.

In the interests of the security and safety of all participants and the smooth running of the sessions, the UNFCCC secretariat reserves the right to deny and/or restrict access to the conference premises, or to request participants to leave the premises. The UNFCCC secretariat shall not be responsible for any expenses incurred by participants who are requested to leave the premises or refuse registration or access to the sessions for which they have been nominated and/or registered as participants.

Non-smoking policy

To promote a healthy environment and to eliminate the risks associated with second-hand smoke inhalation, smoking indoors is strictly prohibited and smoking in the vicinity of buildings is highly discouraged. This includes the use of vapers and electronic cigarettes. Designated outdoor smoking areas are available.

CW4 will be held from 7-11 September in Baku, Azerbaijan.

You will be required to upload a letter of assignment which meets the following criteria:

• The letter must be on your organization’s official letterhead.

• It must be from your supervisor to the UN Climate Change Press Office.

• It must specify which meeting is to be covered and on what dates.

• It must provide links to your organization's website.

• It must state:

• That you are assigned to cover the event

• Your full name and position

• The type of coverage planned (news reporting, photo, video, documentary, etc.)

• It must be signed by your supervisor.

• It must contain contact information for your supervisor (email or phone number). 

Please also include links to work which has been published in your name. Articles which are not bylined or are compiled from other sources will not be considered.

All registration formalities, including the issuance of badges to duly nominated participants attending the sessions, are free of charge. Once nominated, participants will receive an email with a link to complete their registration via Indico.

Logistical information related to travel and participation will be communicated directly to registered participants.

All mandated events will be organized in accordance with their respective mandates under the governing and subsidiary bodies.

Information on nominations is available as follows:

• Parties and observer states representatives (including those eligible for funding)
• Representatives of United Nations organizations and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs)

In view of the need to confirm the arrangements for Climate Week-4 events as early as possible, the secretariat may not be in a position to process nominations of participants requiring funding support received after the deadline of 7 August 2026, CET 23:59.

Implementation Forum

The Implementation Forum of the Climate Week will be convened from Wednesday, 9 September to Thursday, 10 September 2026. Details on the Implementation Forum, including the specific events and registration process, are available on the event page.

Participants are encouraged to print and photocopy only what is necessary prior to and during the sessions.

Participants are asked to refrain from distributing any printed materials, such as publications and information related to side events, other meetings, or future conferences. Any dissemination of information should be done electronically.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own water bottles, as water refilling stations will be available at the venue.

Participants attending the Fourth Climate Week in Baku are responsible for arranging their own travel, unless their participation is funded by the UNFCCC secretariat. Funded participants will receive detailed travel information upon confirmation of their funding.

The main port of entry is Heyder Aliyev International Airport.

Getting Around in Baku

Taxis are the most convenient way to get around Baku and are widely available throughout the city. Public transportation options, including buses, are also available.

The main conference venue is the Baku Convention Centre (BCC).

The registration desk is situated in the Foyer of the BCC.

The Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan has authorized the issuance of free-of-charge visas for  participants registered for CW4.

Registered participants may obtain a CW4 electronic visa (e-Visa) through a dedicated electronic visa portal using a unique and personalized visa application link. The link will be sent in a separate email following registration confirmation. Alternatively, participants may apply for a visa through the diplomatic representations and consulates of the Republic of Azerbaijan abroad.

Participants holding a United Nations Laissez-Passer (UNLP) are required to apply for a CW4 e-Visa. As the holder's nationality is not indicated on the UNLP, applicants should enter the nationality shown in their national passport when completing the visa application. The issued visa permits a single entry and allows a stay in the Republic of Azerbaijan for up to 30 days.

Participants who need to leave Azerbaijan and re-enter in connection with their participation in CW4 meetings must apply for a new visa using their registration number.

All foreign participants requiring a visa must hold a passport valid for at least 3 months longer than the expiry date of the issued visa. Please note that the Republic of Azerbaijan maintains visa-free travel arrangements with a number of countries under bilateral intergovernmental agreements. Participants who are nationals of these countries do not require a visa.

Visas for CW4 participants will be issued within three (3) working days after submission of a complete application through the official electronic visa portal or through a diplomatic representation or consulate of the Republic of Azerbaijan abroad. Information on the opening date for visa applications through the dedicated electronic visa portal and through diplomatic representations and consulates of the Republic of Azerbaijan abroad will be provided shortly.

Participants entering Azerbaijan with a visa, as well as passport holders from visa-free countries, must complete migration registration at their place of stay within 15 days of arrival if they will remain in the country for 15 days or longer. Registration is not required for stays of less than 15 days.
