The Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE)* Networking Receptions were organized as part of the ACE Hub, promoted by the German regional government of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) to foster education and public awareness, training, public access to information and participation in climate change action.

  • The first ACE Networking Reception, co-hosted by the ACE Observatory, took place on 15 June 2022 at SB56 in Bonn, Germany.
  • The second ACE Networking Reception, co-organized by the Under2 Coalition, took place on 15 November 2022 on ACE and Civil Society Day at COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
  • The third ACE Networking Breakfast, co-organized by the Under2 Coalition, took place on 5 December 2023 at COP28 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Through two panel discussions, the event highlighted regional and subnational climate action and efforts to drive greater community engagement and participation in policymaking and action, and focused on the importance of collaboration on ACE in driving climate action.

The events were an opportunity for a diverse group of stakeholders, such as Ministers, negotiators, national ACE focal points, practitioners, UN organizations, the private sector and civil society to network and learn more about the ACE Hub.

*Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE) is a term adopted by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to denote work under Article 6 of the Convention (1992) and Article 12 of the Paris Agreement. The over-arching goal of ACE is to empower all members of society to engage in climate action, through the six ACE elements - climate change education and public awareness, training, public participation, public access to information, and international cooperation on these issues.
