UN Climate Change News, 3 July 2018 - For the first-time ever in the history of the UN Climate Change process, country representatives are gathering alongside non-governmental actors – such as businesses and cities – for the informal and inclusive ‘Talanoa Dialogue’.

The 2018 Talanoa Dialogue is an important international conversation in which countries and non-Party stakeholders will check progress and seek to increase global ambition to meet the goals of the Paris Climate Change Agreement.

The Dialogue offers a unique and positive setting to share stories, which each respond to one of the three central questions which guide the Talanoa:

  • Where are we now?
  • Where do we want to go?
  • How do we get there?

UN Climate Change was able to speak directly to many individuals who participated in the official Talanoa Dialogue during the May UN Climate Change Conference in Bonn.

The highlights from these conversations can now be viewed in our ‘Talanoa for Ambition’ video, kicking-off a series of shorter videos (‘Talanoa Stories’) to be released in the coming months ahead of the political phase of the Talanoa at the UN Climate Change Conference COP24 is Poland at the end of this year.

Each one of these videos will explore a story of a country or an organization that has something meaningful to say about solving the climate crisis.

Moreover, the Summary Report, capturing the substance of the May discussions, is now available to view online here. Read more about the Talanoa Dialouge here.

UN Climate Change is very grateful to all those who participated in this exercise and here are their names in the order that they appear in the video.
