UN Climate Change News, 1 September 2022 - Do you work on capacity-building efforts for climate action? Do you want to share your experiences with best practices of capacity-building and engage with experts on climate action? Are you interested in organizing a capacity-building event at the UN Climate Change Conference COP27 in November?

The Paris Committee on Capacity-building (PCCB) is ready to welcome climate change-related capacity-building organizations, experts, practitioners and enthusiasts to the 4^th Capacity-building Hub at COP27.

The 4^th Capacity-building Hub will feature various thematic days, including: Capacity-building Day; Implementing Article 6 & 13 of the Paris Agreement Day; Just Transition & Sustainable Economies Day; Open Space Learning Day; Oceans and Land Day; Building Capacities with ACE Day; and PCCB Focus area day.

The topics will highlight key areas of capacity-building under the Convention and the Paris Agreement, to support enhanced ambition in climate action at all levels.

By responding to this call for expressions of interest by the Paris Committee on Capacity-building and organizing an event at the Hub, you can help us raise awareness on the importance of capacity-building for climate change action and as a key tool to amplify the implementation of capacity-building efforts.

Background on the Capacity-building Hub

The Paris Committee on Capacity-building (PCCB) was created in 2015 with the unique mandate to help developing countries identify their capacity-building needs and gaps and to promote the active engagement with a wide range of stakeholders to increase the impact of capacity-building itself.

The Capacity-building Hub is a direct response to the PCCB's mission to enhance coherence and coordination of capacity-building under the Convention and the Paris Agreement, address current and emerging gaps and needs, and facilitate greater awareness of the scope and impact of capacity-building efforts.

Since the 1st Capacity-building Hub Hub at COP24, the Hub has grown exponentially, with over 200 institutions organizing over 100 sessions. With each year, the range of actors involved has broadened and the focus on capacity-building climate action and implementation has developed from a well-laid foundation.

Continuing on this successful path, the 4^th Capacity-building Hub seeks to be a source for greater engagement, with a focus on implementation for climate action as the world moves towards a more just and sustainable future.
