Expression of Interest to host a Regional Climate Week in 2024
The UNFCCC and its global partners invite national governments to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to host the Climate Week for their regions (Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Middle East and North Africa) in 2024. This is a unique opportunity to bring governments, the private sector, and other non-Party stakeholders together to advance cooperation and collaboration to address the climate change crisis. Applications will be accepted through 6 October 2023.
To submit an Expression of Interest, please send a signed EOI to the UNFCCC secretariat at Climate-Week@unfccc.int and attach the Elaboration on Criteria form by 6 October 2023.
How to apply for hosting a Regional Climate Week in 2024
The Regional Climate Weeks provide a platform for engagement by national and subnational governments, regions, cities, Indigenous Peoples communities, the private sector and civil society. Each week is an opportunity to shape the implementation and delivery of national climate action plans under the Paris Agreement on the way to COP29 in 2024.
The agenda, information for participants, online registration, on-site organization, communications including video production and photography, as well as the outcome reports and presentation of outputs at the following COP are led by UNFCCC with the support of global and regional partners. Learn more about UNFCCC and partners’ roles and scope of tasks here.
The preparation time for Regional Climate Weeks usually is up to six months. This is to allow proper planning, preparation of information and organization of all aspects of the event. A draft example of a preparation timeline with milestones can be found here.
