Climate Week 2-2025: Turning Ambition into Action
From 1-6 September, Addis-Ababa, Ethiopia, will host the second Climate Week of 2025 (CW2), at the Addis International Convention Center (AICC).
CW2 is a global platform to accelerate climate implementation, bringing together governments, technical experts, financial institutions, civil society, and youth to convert ambition into action. It is part of the UNFCCC’s Climate Week series, which convenes regional and global actors to tackle real-world implementation challenges and identify scalable solutions.
At the heart of CW2 is the Implementation Forum, a dedicated space for open, solutions-oriented dialogue aimed at identifying barriers, co-designing enabling conditions, and turning commitments into measurable outcomes. Discussions will center on the urgent need for stronger adaptation efforts, while ensuring that the shift to low-carbon economies happens in a way that is fair, inclusive, and socially just. A key focus will also be on unlocking and aligning finance for implementation—including through the innovative potential of Article 6 mechanisms under the Paris Agreement.
Alongside mandated events and high-level dialogues, CW2 fosters an inclusive and action-oriented environment—bridging ambition and implementation, amplifying diverse global perspectives, and laying the groundwork for credible outcomes at COP30 and beyond.
CW2 will precede the Africa Climate Summit 2 (ACS2), taking place in Addis Ababa the following week. The Summit will gather African Heads of State and key international partners to define common positions and commitments. Outcomes from CW2—particularly from the Implementation Forum—will provide technical insights, policy momentum, and regional perspectives to support the development of a unified voice on implementation, finance, and just transition ahead of COP30.
