Interested in learning how to navigate multilateral climate negotiations?

Organized by the UNFCCC secretariat and its Regional Collaboration Centres (RCCs), the Interactive Negotiation Lab offers a practical opportunity for new and emerging negotiators to explore these dynamics through an interactive negotiation simulation during COP31.

Participants will explore the procedures of multilateral climate negotiations, including how negotiating groups present their positions, and explore possible negotiation outcomes.

Who is it for?

The event is designed primarily for new and emerging climate negotiators, including youth delegates and participants with limited experience of UNFCCC negotiations or limited access to negotiation training and capacity-building opportunities.

Participation and selection

Registered participants may be selected by the secretariat to take an active role in the simulation or attend as audience members. Selection and role allocation will take into account gender balance, regional balance and participants’ availability during COP31.

The outcome of the selection process and the allocation of roles will be communicated at a later stage.
