In November 2023, the outcome of the first global stocktake (decision 1/CMA.5, paragraph 187) requested Chairs of the subsidiary bodies to organize an annual dialogue starting at SB60 to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and good practices on how the outcomes of the global stocktake are informing the preparation of Parties’ next nationally determined contributions in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Paris Agreement.

The first GST NDC dialogue was held in conjunction with SB 60 in June 2024, and the second GST NDC dialogue was held in conjunction with SB 62 in June 2025. The dialogues were conducted under the guidance of the SB Chairs and were open to all Parties and non-Party stakeholders.

In November 2026, decision 3/CMA.7 decided that the annual GST dialogue will conclude at the SB 64 (June 2026) and the resumption of the dialogue will be considered in the context of the second GST.

Dialogues

The 2024 GST dialogue was held from 6 to 7 June 2024, in conjunction with SB60. The dialogue featured discussions on how the first GST outcomes are informing the preparation of NDCs across all thematic areas, as well as cross-cutting elements; domestic approaches to the review, updating and implementation of NDCs; and enhancing international cooperation, including bilateral, regional and international cooperative initiatives. The summary report of the dialogue is available here. 

The 2025 GST dialogue was held from 19 to 20 June 2025, in conjunction with SB62. The dialogue featured discussions on integrating GST outcomes into the preparation of NDCs and advancing NDC implementation and enabling environments. The summary report of the dialogue is available here.

The 2026 GST dialogue will be held in conjunction with SB64. The Chairs of the subsidiary bodies will hold an virtual informal consultations on 7 May to discuss preparations for the upcoming dialogue.
