Reporting and review process for the true-up period of the second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol

In accordance with decision 1/CMP.17, each Party included in Annex I with a commitment inscribed in the third column of Annex B in the Doha Amendment to the Kyoto Protocol for the second commitment period shall submit as soon as practicable but not later than 24 October 2023 (45 days after the expiration of the additional period for fulfilling commitments or “true-up period”) the “Report upon expiration of the additional period for fulfilling commitments under the second commitment period” (true-up period report). The timely submission of the true-up period reports is an essential step for initializing the assessment of the compliance of a Party with its commitment under Article 3, paragraph 1 bis, of the Kyoto Protocol. The true-up period reports shall be prepared by Parties in accordance with the requirements included in decisions 13/CMP.1, 15/CMP.1, 3/CMP.11 and 1/CMP.17.

The table below presents the true-up period reports submitted by each Party included in Annex I with a commitment inscribed in the third column of Annex B in the Doha Amendment to the Kyoto Protocol for the second commitment period and the outcome of their reviews under Article 8 of the Kyoto Protocol.
