Background: COP 21 invited CMA 1 to explore ways of enhancing the implementation of training, public awareness, public participation and public access to information to enhance actions under the Paris Agreement. CMA 1.1 referred this matter to SBI 47 and requested the SBI to report back at CMA 1.
During SBI47 Parties adopted Conclusions, and requested the secretariat to organize a workshop, preferably in session, or as appropriate, in conjunction with SBI 48 (April–May 2018) to develop a list of actions to enhance the implementation of the Paris Agreement through ACE-related activities.
Objective: To develop a list of actions to enhance the implementation of the Paris Agreement through ACE-related activities.
Organization: Parties and observers were invited to submit their views on the role of ACE and topics for the workshop that could enhance the implementation of ACE under the Paris Agreement.
Methodology: The ACE workshop included presentations, panel discussions and working-groups.
Participation: The ACE workshop was open for participation of Parties, representatives of relevant bodies established under the Convention, experts, youth, practitioners and stakeholders.
