Webcast link for the first breakout discussion on Latest science in understanding climate change can be accessed here.
Introduction
The research dialogue provides a platform for the scientific community, Parties and non-Party stakeholders to convey research findings and lessons learned and discuss needs for research and research capacity building, particularly those of developing countries, to support the implementation of the UNFCCC and the Paris Agreement. Information on previous meetings of the research dialogue is available online.
Themes
Taking into account submissions which were received from both Parties and organizations as well as the informal consultations conducted by the SBSTA Chair, this year’s RD focused on:
(a) the latest scientific advancements in the understanding of climate change
(b) sustainable development and climate action nexus.
A poster session was also held and featured posters on topics related to the state of the global climate, non-carbon dioxide emissions, low emissions and climate resilient development pathways, tipping points and effective adaptation strategies.
Organization and agenda
The 17th Research Dialogue, was held on 17 June 2025, and included presentations, made in plenary, two parallel breakout sessions, and a poster session. Parties and organizations were invited to share updates and materials of relevance to the topics of the dialogue by 30 May 2025, through rso@unfccc.int, to be published on this webpage.
