About the meeting

The successful completion of the annual inventory reviews of Annex I Parties by the 1 June 2023 deadline marked the start of the 100-day countdown towards the end of the additional period for fulfilling commitments –referred to by many as the true-up period– on 9 November 2023. Parties with a quantified emission limitation and reduction commitments for the second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol submitted their true-up period reports by 24 October 2023. The secretariat has organized the review of all true-up period reports, in accordance with the Kyoto Protocol review guidelines (decision 22/CMP.1 in conjunction with 3/CMP.11 and 4/CMP.11). The review of all Parties is scheduled for the week of 19–23 February 2024. This review will take place simultaneously with the independent assessment for registry systems for the true-up period conducted by registry system administrators.
