COP28 Youth Climate Champion Outcomes Report
Open
Abstract

Recognizing that the consequences of climate change
disproportionately affect the present and future of children and
youth, COP28 worked to redefine what an inclusive COP means
by amplifying the voices and agency of children and youth in
shaping sustainable and resilient solutions. Inclusion was front
and center of the COP28 process, focusing on marginalized
communities most impacted by climate change but often
excluded from formal decision-making spaces.

This report presents the initiatives, engagements, approaches,
and strategies the COP28 Presidency and Youth Climate
Champion employed with partners to foster meaningful
engagement and collaboration with children and youth in climate
action. The report concludes with lessons learned and
recommendations for stakeholders, including incoming COP
Presidencies, on important insights gained during COP28 on
children and youth inclusion and engagement.
