The Conference of the Parties (COP) adopted the Paris Agreement in December 2015, through its decision 1/CP.21. The same decision mandated specific follow-up work, referred to as the Paris Agreement work programme (PAWP), to the subsidiary bodies – the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Paris Agreement (APA), the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) and the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) – and the constituted bodies, as well as by the COP itself. Following their mandates from 1/CP.21, the APA, the SBSTA and the SBI have been advancing work on the PAWP in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
