Abstract

The Conference of the Parties (COP) adopted the Paris Agreement in December 2015, through its decision 1/CP.21. The same decision mandated specific follow-up work, referred to as the Paris Agreement work programme (PAWP), to the subsidiary bodies – the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Paris Agreement (APA), the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) and the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) – and the constituted bodies, as well as by the COP itself. The full list of mandates and scope of the PAWP are provided in the PAWP progress tracker. Following their mandates from 1/CP.21, the APA, the SBSTA and the SBI have been advancing work on the PAWP in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
