The year 2024 marked the 30th anniversary of the entry into force of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. To celebrate this milestone, the Adaptation Committee has issued an updated publication that illustrates the landscape and history of how adaptation has been approached throughout the international climate change process since 1994.
The report introduces the context of climate change and the challenge of adapting to it, chronicles the evolution of adaptation under the UNFCCC while highlighting significant milestones, examines the broader landscape beyond the negotiations by identifying key adaptation actors and developments, and outlines upcoming processes and trends that will shape adaptation efforts going forward.
