Background:

Making good decisions on climate and nature depends on access to good information. However, information on climate and nature - such as policies, laws or regulations - is often hard to find. These documents are often long and dense, use complex language, are written in different languages and formats, and are scattered across different websites. This makes it hard to search, compare, or connect information.

Using data science and AI-powered tools, Climate Policy Radar transforms fragmented documents into structured, searchable knowledge which decision-makers can find, analyse, and act upon. CPR is trusted and used by policymakers, researchers, international agencies, civil society and the private sector, built with and delivered by credible, trusted partners globally. Currently, there are more than 1 million users worldwide.

Objectives:

  • Learn about the main actors in the climate policy landscape and how digital public infrastructure can enable better policies.
  • Explore how to find policy information from different sources and locations, including country profiles, national policies, UN submissions, climate finance projects and court cases.
  • Practice with advanced search functions, including AI-assisted search, on the Climate Policy Radar platform to dig deep on topics relevant to their own work.
  • Share with other participants how Climate Policy Radar’s tools can serve young people and support better policies on climate and nature.

The Session is organized by:

Climate Policy Radar is an independent non-profit building the shared data infrastructure to change that. CPR runs the world’s largest open, free database of climate (and nature) documents, spanning 35,000+ laws, policies, UN submissions, litigation cases, climate finance projects, and more.
