BACKGROUND

As the global energy transition accelerates, countries are moving from target-setting to large-scale implementation. However, uneven capacity across regions, sectors, and stakeholders has become a major constraint to advancing an inclusive and effective transition.

To address this challenge, the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO), in collaboration with the Secretariat of UNFCCC and other partners under the PCCB Network Energy Cluster, is conducting a joint research study on Global Energy Transition Capacity Building Gaps and Needs Assessment. The study draws on surveys, expert consultations, and multi-dimensional analytical frameworks to identify key capacity gaps and priority needs.

To further enhance the quality, relevance, and applicability of the study, a dedicated workshop will be convened to present preliminary findings and gather feedback from stakeholders.

OBJECTIVES

The workshop aims to:

  • Present the preliminary findings of the study;
  • Facilitate exchange of views on key issues, including: Capacity gaps across sectors and thematic areas; Regional differences in capacity needs; Emerging priorities in energy transition capacity building;
  • Collect comments and recommendations from participating experts and organizations;
  • Support the revision and improvement of the research report.
