Background

The Climate Dialogues series of events (23 November to 4 December) will be convened by the SBSTA and SBI Chairs, in collaboration with the COP 25 Presidency and incoming COP 26 Presidency. The aim of the Climate Dialogues is to support the engagement of Parties and other stakeholders in the UNFCCC process for timely implementation of the activities mandated for 2020 and keep the delivery of mandates for COP 26 in 2021 on track, while minimizing the impact of postponing all UNFCCC sessions planned for 2020 to 2021 owing to COVID-19.

The Closing event will provide a high-level panoramic view on what was achieved during the Dialogues, and will inspire Parties and other stakeholders to engage and together pave the way towards a successful SB session in the first sessional period in 2021. It also aims to harness the lessons from all events throughout the 10 days and encourage Parties and relevant stakeholders to continue with their work and engagement in the UNFCCC so that they can come prepared to engage constructively in the work of SB sessions that will take place in 2021.

Organized in an interactive format, the Closing discussion will include remarks from the SBSTA and SBI Chairs, the COP 25 Presidency and incoming COP 26 Presidency and the UNFCCC Executive Secretary, as well as a live session of questions and answers.
