Lillehammer is located 180 Km north of Olso in the Lagen River valley, close to Lake Mjøsa and the mountainous Oppland region. It is the commercial and administrative center of Oppland and a popular tourist resort year round. There is some industry associated with the processing of timber from local forests. Its population is about 25,000.
