Background

This session is organized by the Katowice Committee of Experts on the Impacts of the Implementation of Response Measures in collaboration with UN Global Compact Network Malaysia & Brunei, and Regional Collaboration Centre Asia and the Pacific 

The KCI is a constituted body of the UNFCCC which supports the forum on activities related to response measures. Its work plan comprises four focus areas namely; i). Economic diversification and transformation, ii). Just transition of the workforce and the creation of decent work and quality jobs, iii). Assessing and analysing the impacts of the implementation of response measures, and iv). Facilitating and building capacity on the identification, development, customization and use of tools and methodologies to assess the impacts of the implementation of response measures.

UNGCMYB, as the leading voice on business sustainability,  functions as an extension of the UN Global Compact and is dedicated to assisting both Malaysian and Bruneian organisations to embrace sustainable business practices by convening and accelerating opportunities for multi-stakeholder actions grounded in the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

RCC Asia-Pacific, established in 2015, provides hands-on support to governments, NGOs and the private sector in Asia and the Pacific region to develop their mitigation efforts through capacity building, direct technical assistance, and strategic networking - sourcing the know-how and resources to drive clean development.

 

Objectives

  • Showcase private sector contribution to social development and economic growth through climate actions.

  • Facilitate peer-to-peer learning amongst private sector actors, through the sharing of best practices on driving socio-economic transformation through climate action focusing on successful initiative

 

Format

This event will take on a roundtable format with private sector actors sharing their experiences in leveraging climate actions to advance socio-economic transformation.
