Context

The Paris Committee on Capacity-building (PCCB) has continued to connect climate actors, facilitate collaborative capacity-building activities, and foster engaging discussions through virtual means, despite the current limitations. With the postponement of this year's Capacity-building Hub (to be held in conjunction with COP26), the PCCB is planning a series of virtual events, every Wednesday in November (on 4, 11, 18, 25) to help maintain momentum on capacity-building for climate action. The first three events are led by members of the PCCB Network, and focused on capacity-building relevant issues for climate action in 2020 and beyond.

The PCCB will conclude this series on November 25th, where an overview of the Committee’s work in 2020 will be provided and discussed, including the launch of the PCCB Network pilot phase, and the development of a concept for an informal coordination group on capacity-building under the Convention and the Paris Agreement for representatives of constituted bodies, the operating entities of the Financial Mechanism and other relevant processes under the Convention.

Description/Objective

At the final event in the Capacity-building Momentum to Recover Better series, the PCCB will present an overview of activities undertaken and the progress made in 2020 (ATPR 2020), including highlights from the work of the PCCB Network. In addition, the PCCB will use the opportunity to engage in a forward-looking conversation with the participants to exchange ideas and discuss suitable pathways for the advancement of capacity-building efforts in the time leading to COP26, aligned with the priority areas of its extended mandate.
