Workshop on country-driven strategies for Just Transition and Economic Diversification focusing on Challenges and Opportunities

Background

Pursuant to the workplan of the response measure forum and its KCI contained in decision 4/CP.25, 4/CMP.15 and 4/CMA.2, the response measures forum will hold an in-session workshop to implement workplan activity 2 at the 58th sessions of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice and the Subsidiary Body for Implementation.

(Activity 2 – Identify country-driven strategies and best practices on just transition of the workforce and creation of decent work and quality jobs and on economic diversification and transformation focusing on challenges and opportunities from the implementation of low greenhouse gas emission policies and strategies towards the achievement of sustainable development)

The workshop will provide a non-negotiation space for Parties, observers and experts to exchange and share experience and best practices in the implementation of just transition and economic diversification strategies, with a focus on challenges and opportunities. The workshop will also be informed by the work of the Katowice Committee of Impacts of the implementation of response measures (KCI).

The workshop is open to Parties and observers registered for the 58th sessions of the subsidiary bodies.

  4. GIZ, Ms. Leonor von Limburg  - GIZ will provide an ice-breaking just transition and economic diversification have been undertaken across countries
  5. Interaction and exchange and share of experience and best practices among Parties and observers
  6. Wrap-up and closing

  • What are opportunities and challenges in their implementation?
  • What kind of collaboration, including private sector engagement, could facilitate the development and implementation of just transition and economic diversification strategies?
  • How did the implementation of these strategies contribute to the achievement of sustainable development?
