The UN Climate Change Regional Collaboration Centre for West and Central Africa, in collaboration with the Government of Togo, is organizing a two-day in-country workshop to advance the development of a national framework and operating manual for the implementation of Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement.

Article 6.2 enables countries to cooperate through the exchange of Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes (ITMOs) to meet their climate goals more efficiently. This workshop will present the initial draft of Togo’s regulatory framework and operational manual, fostering in-depth discussions with key national stakeholders including government ministries, parliamentarians, project developers, and international partners.

The objective of the workshop is to clarify Article 6 concepts, gather valuable feedback on the draft documents, and align the national approach with international best practices to ensure environmental integrity, legal clarity, and market readiness.

The in-person workshop will be with the following stakeholders:

  • Ministry of the Environment and Forest Resources
  • National Certification Committee
  • Ministry of Economy and Finance
  • Ministry of Trade, Handicrafts and Local Consumption
  • Ministry of Industry and Investment Promotion
  • Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries
  • Autonomous Port of Lomé (PAL)
