Introduction

The research dialogue provides a platform for the scientific community, Parties and non-Party stakeholders to convey latest scientific information, research findings and lessons learned in support of the implementation of the Convention and the Paris Agreement. The dialogue also discusses needs for research and research capacity building, particularly those of developing countries. Information on previous meetings of the research dialogue is available online.

The information note that outlines the topics and organization of the dialogue, as well as guiding  questions to aid discussions, is now available online

Themes

Taking into account submissions which were received from both Parties and organizations, this year’s RD will focus on:

  • Advances in climate modelling and scenario development,
  • Pathways for sectoral transformation,
  • Understanding climate risks, impacts, and tipping points.

Organization and agenda

The 18th Research Dialogue, will be held on 9th June 2026 (9:00-13:00 CEST), and includes an opening segment, plenary updates and three breakout sessions. Parties and organizations are invited to share updates and materials of relevance to the topics of the dialogue through rso@unfccc.int, by 30th May, to be published on this webpage.
