Accelerator City for Climate Action

The City of Liverpool, England has become the world’s first ‘Accelerator City’ for climate action, within UN Climate Change’s Entertainment and Culture for Climate Action (ECCA) programme.

Liverpool has been recognised for its commitment to pilot innovative new ways to rapidly decarbonise the live music and Film/TV production sectors.

As an ’Accelerator City’, Liverpool will expand on the use of policy, technology, infrastructure, and transport practices to pilot and then embed decarbonisation methods into the fabric of the city, extending the scope of this work to include national film and television institutions; establishing cross-sectoral solutions with clean, green providers and sustainability-focused event & onscreen producers.

This initiative includes the active collaboration of a broad range of public and private stakeholders, as well as the European Space Agency and UNESCO, who will work together to explore new ways of increasing climate action, challenging ideas and being challenged, and working to develop live shows and TV and film productions in the greenest and most sustainable ways possible.
