Partnership for reuse/recycling of UNFCCC IT equipment
Scope of the intended partnership

Specifically:

  • The secretariat will provide, at its premises in Bonn, Germany, its written-off high-end user and back-end ICT equipment, to the partner as a donation.
  • The partner will collect all of the equipment at no cost to the secretariat, transport it to its facilities and refurbish or recycle and distribute it in a socially responsible manner.
  • The partner will ascertain environmentally and socially sustainable downstream use and, eventually, dispose of the donated equipment and report to the secretariat accordingly.
  • There will be no financial transactions between the parties. The ICT equipment will be donated by the secretariat and taken over and removed by the partner at no cost to the secretariat. Each partner covers any own costs incurred in that context.
  • This partnership may serve as a model for other organizations; both parties will strive to share information on it.
  • The partnership, in principle, can be open-ended.
Opportunity for partnership with the UNFCCC secretariat

The intended partnership would implement the following activities:

  • The secretariat wishes to dispose of ICT equipment that has been in its use and needs to be written off in an environmentally and socially sustainable manner.
  • The secretariat’s partner or partners will take over the secretariat’s written-off ICT equipment as a donation and feed it into a circular economy solution (i.e., refurbish and reuse, or recycle).

Proposals from entities dedicated to gender, youth or persons with disabilities are encouraged, especially proposed projects highlighting the gender perspective, fostering youth engagement or disability inclusion.

If proposals from persons with disabilities, or proposals that address persons with disabilities are included, please use the definition from the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities: "persons with disabilities include those who have long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments which, in interaction with various attitudinal and environmental barriers, hinders their full and effective participation in society on an equal basis with others". The secretariat hereby invites entities interested in entering into such a partnership with the secretariat to submit their proposal for partnership in accordance with the instructions detailed in the How to Partner section.
