NAP Expo 2024 session - Integrating human mobility in National Adaptation Plans

The Executive Committee organized a 90-minute technical session with the support of Task Force on Displacement at the 2024 NAP Expo

The session drew attention to the linkages between human mobility and climate change in planning processes, how integrating mobility considerations, such as planned relocation and labor migration, can contribute to adaptation strategies, and specifically how NAPs can be used in enhancing action in this regard.

The session also highlighted that human mobility in the context of climate change can be viewed as a continuum – from voluntary to forced migration, with displacement being the clearest case of loss and damage associated with climate change impacts.
