Reporting mandate

The terms of reference of the Santiago network provide that the Santiago network secretariat will prepare an annual report on activities of the Santiago network secretariat and network and on the performance of their respective functions and submit it to the Advisory Board of the Santiago network for its consideration and approval. The approved report will be forwarded to the secretariat to be included in a joint annual report of the Santiago network and the Executive Committee of the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage and submitted to the governing body or bodies through their subsidiary bodies.

Webinar on membership to the Santiago network

This will take place on 2 October 2024. Interested organizations, bodies, networks and experts can register here.

This webinar will be held virtually, with two sessions offered at 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (CEST) to accommodate different time zones. Recordings from the webinar will be available on the event page after the sessions are completed.

Deadline extension: cutoff for inclusion of information on technical assistance provided under the Santiago Network in the 2023 report of the Executive Committee

(Bonn, 1 September 2023) - The deadline for submissions has been extended and information received by Friday 8 September 2023 will be captured in the 2023 report of the Executive Committee of the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage, to be made available for COP 28.  

All relevant organizations, bodies, networks and experts engaged in providing technical assistance to developing countries catalyzed by the Santiago Network for averting, minimizing and addressing loss and damage associated with the adverse effects of climate change are invited to report on their progress through the Submission Portal of the UNFCCC.

(Bonn, 9 August 2023) All relevant organizations, bodies, networks and experts engaged in providing technical assistance to developing countries catalyzed by the Santiago Network for averting, minimizing and addressing loss and damage associated with the adverse effects of climate change are invited to report on their progress through the Submission Portal of the UNFCCC.

Information received by Thursday 31 August 2023 will be captured in the 2023 report of the Executive Committee of the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage, to be made available for COP 28.  

In your submission, please include the following information as appropriate (see Decision 19/CMA.3, paragraph 5(b) for further details):

(a) The type of technical assistance provided;

(b) The developing countries to which technical assistance was provided and when;

(c) The involvement of and collaboration among stakeholders at the local, subnational, national, regional and international level, as applicable;

(d) Challenges experienced in providing technical assistance;

(e) The ways in which countries may access the technical assistance available.

(Bonn, 31 December 2022) - The UNFCCC secretariat has issued a call for proposals to host the secretariat for the Santiago network for averting, minimizing and addressing loss and damage under the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage associated with Climate Change Impacts. Information received by Friday 9 September 2022 will be captured in the 2022 report of the Executive Committee of the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage, to be made available for COP 27.
