Researching and Understanding the Sediment Dynamics

In recent years, Mozambique's coastal zone has received attention for studies on how it is changing and for building and fixing ports and coastal protection in big cities. These actions have affected the movement of sediment in the coastal area, leading to noticeable impacts over time and space.

One of the main challenges is telling apart natural changes in sediment movement from human activities like destroying natural vegetation. This makes it harder to measure the impact of the coastal protection infrastructure built along the coast.
