Abstract

This synthesis report, the third in the series, focuses on the efforts of the LDCs to access funding for the process to formulate and implement NAPs, considering those LDCs that have completed and submitted a NAP. It looks at the efforts made by these countries to access funding from the GCF, the LDCF, the AF and other sources to update their NAPs and implement the policies, projects and programmes identified therein.

It reflects on the LDCs’ experience, best practices, challenges, gaps and needs in relation to accessing funding and sets out possible recommendations for further supporting the LDCs.

While not exhaustive, the report aims to shed light on the progress made by the LDCs in accessing funding for their adaptation. As at 24 September 2024, 22 LDCs had completed and submitted a NAP.

The information in this report is drawn from multiple sources, including submitted NAPs, progress reports on the process to formulate and implement NAPs, reports from the LEG to the Subsidiary Body for Implementation, NAP country dialogues and reporting by the GCF and the GEF under the Convention. The report also incorporates information from the independent evaluation reports from the GCF, the GEF, the AF, needs determination reports by the Standing Committee on Finance, biennial update reports and other relevant sources.
