Consultations on the election of officers of Convention and Kyoto Protocol bodies and of the APA Bureau were convened today, Friday 20 May 2016, and were chaired by Mr. Walter Schuldt Espinel, Vice-President of the COP/CMP Bureau.

Chairs and Coordinators were urged to submit, by 20:00 hours on Tuesday 24 May 2016, the nominations for the SBI Rapporteur and APA Rapporteur to ensure their election on Thursday 26 May 2016 at the closing of the SBI and the APA, respectively. Chairs and Coordinators were also urged to submit nominations outstanding from COP 21/CMP 11 and due to recent resignations.

The Chair urged all groups and constituencies to consult within their group and to submit the nominations for the elections to be held in Marrakech well before the session and at the latest by Friday 11 November 2016.

Finally, Parties were reminded that in the case of entry into force of the Paris Agreement and the convening of CMA 1 in conjunction with COP 22/CMP 12, Article 16, paragraph 3, and Article 18, paragraph 3, of the Paris Agreement will apply. The secretariat will provide further information to Parties accordingly.
