US Federal Plan Targets 40% Emissions Cut by 2025

US President Barack Obama signed an executive order for a new sustainability plan directing federal agencies to cut their greenhouse gas emissions by 40 percent by 2025. The White House said that in addition to 21 million metric tons of emission reductions – the same as taking 4.2 million cars of the road for a year — achieving this goal will save taxpayers up to $18 billion in avoided energy costs between 2008 and 2025.
