"Impossible isn’t a fact; it’s an attitude," says UN climate chief Christiana Figueres in her 2016 TED talk, referring to the political will and the massive groundswell of action that made the adoption of the historic Paris Agreement last December possible.

In the talk that she gave in February in Vancouver and can now be viewed in full, the UNFCCC Executive Secretary explains how the world's nations "got together and unanimously decided to intentionally change the course of the global economy in order to protect the most vulnerable and improve life for all of us."

On Friday, 22 April 2016, a record number of countries under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change will gather in New York to sign the agreement, sending a strong signal of commitment to the world that it will rapidly enter into force.
