"Let the music talk, let the rhythm play, let the world know what the youth have to say!". This is the motto of the 2015 Global Challenges Youth Music Contest launched this Wednesday on the margins of the UN climate change conference in Bonn, Germany.
The initiative from the International Association for the Advancement of Innovative Approaches to Global Challenges (IAAI) has the UNFCCC and UNESCO among its partners.
The objective of the 2015 Global Challenges Youth Music Contest #GYMC15 is to establish an innovative communication channel for young people to highlight climate action and contribute to the positive momentum towards the achievement of a new universal climate change agreement in Paris at the end of the year.
Miroslav Polzer, IAAI Secretary General said:
This is a unique year with the Post-2015 development agenda and the climate change negotiations and in order to have the most of it we need to have the people on board and we need the social energy. Music can play a great role on it because music is the universal language of humanity building bridges among the hearts and minds of the people and inspiring their action.
There will be two awarded categories, the 2015 GYMC Climate Change Award and the 2015 GYMC Sustainable Development Award.
