Background

The Arab region confronts a unique set of climate-related challenges, ranging from water scarcity and escalating temperatures to desertification and the looming threat of extreme weather events. These challenges extend beyond environmental concerns and carry profound social and economic implications. What makes addressing these issues particularly pressing is the region's significant youth population, with nearly 65% of its inhabitants falling under the age of 30. This demographic composition underscores the immense potential for involving young people in meaningful climate action endeavors.

In response to these challenges, Arab youth have increasingly immersed themselves in climate activism and advocacy. Within this context, community-led climate action initiatives play a pivotal role in devising effective communication strategies that resonate with local populations, thereby enhancing awareness and mobilizing collective action. Placing a strong emphasis on these community-based initiatives, it underscores the significance of grassroots efforts in tackling climate challenges that are unique to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. This comprehensive approach strives to empower local communities, promote sustainable practices, and contribute to a MENA region that is more resilient and environmentally conscious, ultimately shaping a better future for all.
