The objective of the event was to showcase Adaptation Committee activities and to engage in a dialogue with Parties and other relevant stakeholders.

The meeting addressed the following guiding questions:

1. How are international and regional organizations, centres and networks engaging with, and supporting adaptation action by, national governments and organizations?

The discussion will focus on the mechanisms for engaging as well as identifying areas and ways of delivering support, rather than on actual projects, and address in particular:

• What models of engagement exist, including best practices and lessons learned? 

• What type of support is needed, in which areas and how is it identified? How is it/should it be implemented?

• What gaps, needs and opportunities exist for enhancing engagement and support? 

• What modalities, including through outreach and raising awareness, can be used to enhance synergy and coherent provision of support?

2. How can the Adaptation Committee promote synergy and strengthen engagement with regional and international organizations, centres and networks so as to improve the ability of countries to gain assistance from United Nations and regional agencies in support of national adaptation action?

This discussion addressed:

• What is the current state of engagement with regional and international organizations, centres and networks, including modalities and activities, and what can be improved?

• What kind of guidance from the Adaptation Committee would be useful for regional and international organizations, centres and networks so as to enhance coherent support of national adaptation action?
