Objective
The main objective of this event is to share knowledge, experiences, and best practices in the tracking and monitoring of just transition policies and strategies. Stakeholders from research institutes, the private sector, government bodies, and international organizations will provide insights on this topic, through their experience and work. Stakeholders will share, among others, tools and methodologies that can be used to measure impacts, indicators that can be used to monitor the progress, and approaches or methods that have been used to monitor the impacts of just transition policies.
While a just transition is recognized as necessary for a sustainable future, there have been very limited efforts for tracking or measuring their impacts. The Katowice Committee of Experts on the Impacts of the Implementation of Response Measures (KCI)[1] will be publishing a paper that discusses tracking the implementation of the just transition strategies. Against this backdrop, this event is organized, seeking to be a call-to-action to encourage countries to set up monitoring frameworks to track their just transition strategies, to ensure the intended impacts of social equity, environmental sustainability, and economic prosperity, are achieved. This event also seeks to encourage countries to report their progress in achieving a just transition in their NDC 3.0 and LT-LEDS.
The event will follow a panel discussion format with experts from various backgrounds contributing to the discussion on tracking just transitions.
Agenda
The event will be moderated by Peter Govindasamy (KCI)
