Background

With unpreceded attention on both energy transition and Multilateral Environmental Agreements' synergies, this session will focus on the energy transition lens in synergistic climate and nature solutions, and the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration, in the update and implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions, National Adaptation Plans, National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans, and other relevant planning. 

 

Established in 1922, BirdLife International is the world’s largest civil society nature partnership, with over 120 national NGO Partners. Through our local-to-global approach, we drive equitable conservation and policy advocacy for the benefit of nature, climate and people. 

Established in 1979 and administered by UNEP, the UN Convention on Migratory Species drives efforts to reconcile energy transition with nature through its multi-stakeholder Energy Task Force, including over 20 governments, various UN bodies, international financial institutions and civil society organizations. The Energy Task Force is coordinated by BirdLife International on behalf of the secretariat. 

Objectives

This session will focus on the linkages between climate, energy, and nature from multilateral policy to national implementation. Aiming to inspire governments, international financial institutions, intergovernmental organizations, civil society organizations and relevant stakeholders, in their relevant work, this session will share the experience, case studies, and resources of a diverse set of stakeholders, including governments, UN bodies, NGOs, businesses, and international financial institutions.
