The UNFCCC Capacity-building Hub was established in 2018 to provide a space of representation and collaboration for a wide array of stakeholders active in capacity-building related activities. The Hub is one of the flagship activities of the UNFCCC Paris Committee on Capacity-building (PCCB), bringing together the knowledge and experience of experts, scholars, and activists at local and global levels, to foster the creation and dissemination of knowledge, and embody the spirit of collaboration within the capacity-building community.
This year the PCCB is partnering with the UNFCCC Technology Executive Committee (TEC) and the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) to focus on capacity-building needs and facilitate discussion on approaches for developing countries on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) as one of the climate action solutions. This event is held under the Technology Mechanism Initiative on AI for Climate Action, which aims to explore the role of AI as a technological tool and support the application of AI technologies to advance and scale up transformative climate solutions in developing countries, with a focus on the least developed countries (LDCs) and small island developing States (SIDS).
Objectives
Create a space for knowledge sharing on AI and its role in climate action;
Raise awareness on AI for climate action under the UNFCCC and the Paris Agreement;
Learn through interactive session how AI is being used for climate action in developing countries.
