Abstract

At its thirtieth session, the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) agreed to launch a work programme in 2010 for the revision of the "Guidelines for the preparation of national communications by Parties included in Annex I to the Convention, Part I: UNFCCC reporting guidelines on annual inventories" (hereinafter referred to as the UNFCCC Annex I reporting guidelines), including the common reporting format tables. The SBSTA invited Parties to submit to the secretariat, by 15 February 2010, their views on: the process and timelines for implementing the work programme; issues related to the revision of the UNFCCC Annex I reporting guidelines; methodological issues related to reporting when using the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories; and areas in which the SBSTA may consider inviting the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change to carry out additional work and contribute to the work programme. It requested the secretariat to compile these submissions into a miscellaneous document for consideration at its thirty-second session (FCCC/SBSTA/2009/3, paras. 102–4). The secretariat has received eight such submissions. In accordance with the procedure for miscellaneous documents, these submissions are attached and reproduced in the languages in which they were received and without formal editing
