The Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA), at its eighteenth session, decided to complete its work under the Third Assessment Report (TAR) agenda item at its nineteenth session, and to initiate the following two new agenda items at its twentieth session, for regular consideration by the SBSTA: (i) Scientific, technical and socio-economic aspects of impacts of, and vulnerability and adaptation to, climate change, (ii) Scientific, technical and socio-economic aspects of mitigation.The (SBSTA) invited Parties to submit to the secretariat, by 30 October 2003, their views on the elements, scope and priorities of the work to be undertaken under these two new agenda items, including possible timing. The SBSTA requested the secretariat to compile the submissions in order to facilitate discussion on these items at its nineteenth session. The secretariat has received 11 submissions from Parties. In accordance with the procedure for miscellaneous documents, these submissions are attached and reproduced in the language in which they were received and without formal editing
