Abstract

At its thirty-sixth session, the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) initiated, but did not conclude, consideration on the composition, modalities and procedures of the team of technical experts. It decided to continue the consideration on this matter at its next session, on the basis of the draft text contained in document FCCC/SBI/2012/15/Add.2, taking into account decisions 1/CP.16 and 2/CP.17, and Article 4, paragraph 7, of the Convention, with a view to recommending a draft decision for adoption by the Conference of the Parties at its eighteenth session. The SBI also recognized the need to have an efficient, cost-effective and practical international consultations and analysis process, which does not impose an excessive burden on Parties and the secretariat, and requested the secretariat to prepare additional input to the discussion under this agenda item at its thirty-seventh session in this regard. In response to the request from the SBI referred to in paragraph 2 above, input from the secretariat will be presented to the relevant meeting on this agenda item at the thirty-seventh session of the SBI on the basis of information provided in the PowerPoint slides contained in this report
